UFC 205 Press Conference: What just happened.
Dana White presented the UFC 205:AlvarezVMcGregor: from Madison Square Garden ahead of the November 12th event. Current UFC Featherweight and Lightweight champions Conor McGregor and Eddie Alvarez who headline the card featured along with defending UFC Welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and UFC Women's Strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk who will be defending their titles against Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson and fellow Pole Karolina Kowalkiewicz respectively. One thing was for sure, Dana would be praying that the fiasco between Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor that occurred at the UFC 202 pre fight press conference would not happen again.
Boos were heard throughout the arena when the curtain revealed the fighters and Dana White, with many jeers aimed at Conor McGregor from the American fans. The first question was posed to McGregor asking him how much he was worth to the company and he told how he was worth "$4.2 million dollars". Chris Weidman was asked about his feelings toward fighting in his home city and told how he "couldn't wait to fight for all you guys". The next question was posed to Conor as he was asked about his move to Lightweight and told he was "comfortable" before telling Eddie Alvarez how he "ran New York" and how he would KO him in "one round" as chants rang out for McGregor. McGregor told how the Irish 'built this city" and how he would "take out one of your own" Tyron Woodley was then booed and told how he was going to put in a great performance and turn the boos into cheers. Ariel Helwani then asked about McGregor's leg injury, and McGregor told how "Nate's face will never be the same again" and how the fight was made "ten days ago". Helwani then asked Eddie Alvarez how he managed to get the fight done, before McGregor told how Alvarez took the money from his last contract, before taking a page from RDA's book telling how it would be 'easy money'. McGregor told how it would need an "army" to take his title/titles. Tyron Woodley was asked about his animosity with Thompson but asked for some respect for beating Robbie Lawler. He also told how he is the "best Welterweight in the world". McGregor was asked if his camp will be specific for Alvarez and told he has beaten his type before. Dana then removed the cans from McGregor's desk as him and Eddie began trash talking. McGregor called Alvarez "sloppy" during his Dos Anjos fight. Alvarez then gave his opinion that McGregor isn't a "championship fighter". McGregor then gave his prediction in his fight with Alvarez and again told how it would take "one round". White then told how Khabib Nurmagomedov would be fighting Michael Johnson on this card aswell. 'Cowboy' Cerrone called McGregor a joker before the Irishman called his "broke, jealous and bitter". Alvarez was asked how he felt about McGregor and told how he thought McGregor couldn't overcome "adversity". Cerrone told how he would "kick ass in both divisions". Frankie Edgar told how he happy to put on a "show" for the fans. Chris Weidman told of his "happiness to be here" but promised that his teammates would get the chance to fight in NY. Dana White was asked about Jon Jones' future in New York and told how "Jones' situation is different" Joanna Jedrzejczyk told how she was happy to fight in New York agaisnt Karolina Kowalkiewicz. Kowalkiewicz told how she was "ready for this fight" and told how Joanna was the "best in the world". Stephen Thompson told how he wanted to face "Robbie Lawler" and called NY, his "home away from home". Alvarez was asked about his strategy and told how he wasn't going to use the tactics that helped him beat Anthony Pettis. McGregor told how Alvarez would be "shooting for husband life" and how Alvarez would "fall". McGregor was asked if he would defend his two belts and told how its "hard to think about Aldo" and told how "Frankie wasn't up to scratch" and how he would hold "two belts". White was then challenged on the future of Ronda Rousey. McGregor asked who Jeremy Stephens was before telling how he may have to drag "Floyd Mayweather out of bed". McGregor called Alvarez "blessed" before Alvarez told McGregor was the "easiest" fight.
