Tottenham Hotspur v Sunderland:

Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs welcomed David Moyes' Sunderland to White Hart Lane at the London club looked to move into the top four in the Premier League standings. Moyes' Sunderland were without a win in the league before the match losing 3 and drawing 1 of their opening four games. Pochettino handed Moussa Sissoko his first start since his big money move from Championship side Newcastle, while David Moyes switched up his midfield as Didier N'Dong came in with former Everton and Spurs man Steven Pienaar and Lee Catermole was recalled. Patrick van Aanholt was swapped put for Jason Denayer before the game as the former Celtic man made his debut for the Wearside club. South Korea winger Heung Min Son continued after his brace last time out. Jordan Pickford was called into action inside the opening 10 minutes, getting down smartly at his near post keeping out Harry Kane's shot. Spurs were aggressively hunting down an opener and came close when Son's attempt stuck the post of Pickford. All this pressure nearly came to nothing after Adnan Januzaj broke away down the right and squared for Pienaar who was denied on the line by former Spurs teammate Kyle Walker before the interval. The second period began with a flurry from the home side which eventually paid dividends after Dele Alli's flick on wasn't dealt with by Papy Djilobodji which left Harry Kane an easy finish inside the six yard box to grab hi second in as many games. Spurs looked to kill off the game but young keeper Jordan Pickford denied Erik Lamela before Dele Alli seen his shot blocked. English youngster Eric Dier missed a decent chance as his shot flashed inches wide of the post. The only blemish as far as Tottenham were concerned was the late injury to Harry Kane as he was stretched off, while Adnan Januzaj picked up a second yellow late on.
