Both men continued to tee off from close range before Barnett again closed the distance as he took it to the fence. Arlovski landed another outside trip before Barnett rolled through and into full mount and looked for an arm triangle with fifty seconds remaining in the second round. Barnett postured up and laid down some devastating ground and pound with Leon Roberts watching closely. Arlovski looked exhausted on his stool during the interval and was lucky to make it to the third
The third began with Arlovski landing a good right hand. Barnett seemed to have injured his eye after an accidental eye poke from Arlovski as Roberts let the fight continue. Barnett looked to tie up a Kimura from side control with Arlovski looking fatigued. Arlovski recovered well but rolled to his back before Barnett locked in rear naked choke forcing the tap from Arlovski to pick up a precious victory, as Andrei Arlovski went three fights without a win while Barnett got back to winning ways. Barnett then applauded Arlovski as he called him back into the octagon to congratulate him on his performance.
